Why Connect?

At Connect Church, we focus on three things and do them to the best of our abilities. Connect to God, connect to people, and connect to a cause.

At Connect Church, we are going to focus on three things and do them to the best of our abilities. We want to help people:

Connect to God

We believe that a clear and individual faith connection is the most vital aspects of life to get figured out, and often the most overlooked. We also know that Jesus invested a lot of his life, and most of his words, not on the religious elite or the spiritually sophisticated, but with very regular, ordinary, every day kind of people. People just like you and I and our neighbours.

It’s simple. We believe that anyone and everyone can have a meaningful and personal faith walk become a reality in their lives, regardless of their past or  present circumstances. We also think that the church should be the very best place for anyone (and everyone) to find that faith.

Especially on Sundays at Connect, we will place a very high priority on passing on Jesus’ message of simple faith in relevant, easily accessible ways, spoken in common, everyday language, with very practical life application. We believe that God really does want to connect with each of you, and we will do our best to not get in the way of that.

Connect to Others

At Connect Church we will place a high emphasis on growing deep, meaningful relationships. We believe that a big part of why we humans were put on this earth was not to walk through this life alone, but to be in community, and to walk together in every area of life, especially in this key area of our faith.

How Jesus lived out the daily rhythm of his life clearly set a high value on developing great relationships. He touched 1000’s and 1000′s of people in great crowds from a distance for sure, but he invested very heavily with his time and energy in just a few close friends. Those relationships were life transforming.

At Connect, we think that the church should be known as a place where great friendships can be found, and where those relationships can develop and flourish. We also believe that a significant aspect of developing faith in our personal lives will happen in great part because of our closest friends.

You can check out our most recent Community Groups here and sign up before April 24th to be part of one.

Connect to a Cause

We know that Jesus spent an extraordinary amount of his life, energy, and time on those who were in great need. Much of his life was spent healing the hurting, feeding the hungry, and releasing the oppressed, people who were enslaved by the darkest parts of life. Showing grace and love to people in need is what a great part of his life was defined by.

We believe that the church needs to be about all these things as well. Connect church will spend what seems to be an over-balanced amount of time, and energy, and money, on meeting the practical needs of people who find themselves in great need. This will be a primary focus of our ministry. We want to make a significant impact on the plight of marginalized people in our city, our country, and in our world. The idea here is to spend less time and energy and money on internal operations of the church organization, so that we can spend much more volunteer time, energy, and money focused externally.

This is a clear and high calling that God has placed on us as a community of faith. It will be a high priority for us.

FAQ

FAQ

FAQ

Why another church in Saskatoon?

Our city is growing. We know that there are many people in our city that don’t have a place where they can explore whether or not God even exists. Connect is a church where you can figure out what you believe and what that means Monday to Saturday as well.

Is Connect Church part of a denomination or a church planting organization?

Connect is a non-denominational church that is born of the vision of a group of people that have served Saskatoon in various ministry capacities for over 20 years. Collectively, we will be accountable to a group of prayerful leaders for decisions and guidance.

What if I’m not sure about this whole “Jesus” thing?

You’re welcome to check us out no matter where you are in regards to faith in Jesus. Don’t worry, we won’t single you out or anything like that! Just show up, see what we’re about, and feel free to contact us anytime with your questions or just to talk.

What do I wear?

Don’t worry about wearing your “Sunday best” for us! We dress pretty casually around here. It’s not out of the ordinary to see jeans and t-shirts and even the occasional Riders jersey on a Sunday morning. When the weather finally warms up, don’t be surprised to see lots of people wearing shorts.

How early should I get there?

Plan on getting to Connect at least 15 minutes before the service starts. That will give you time to park, get the kids (if you have ‘em) checked in for nursery or Kids/Connect , and you can still grab a coffee on your way in to the service. We want to make sure you get the full experience and get into the auditorium before the music starts. We’ll give you a heads up when we’re about to begin.

Corporate Sponsors and Donors

Corporate Sponsors and Donors

Wait…that’s not the norm? You’re right. It’s not. Connect Church is funded by God’s provision through the generous gifts of several individuals that believe the Church is a worthy investment. Connect Church is committed to exercising wise and faithful stewardship of this investment, ethical business practices and accountability, so that the financial integrity of the church remains beyond reproach.

Does that mean you won’t be asking me for money?

Yes. And no. Because of the generosity of anonymous sponsors to take care of operating costs, we are able to focus all our financial efforts on supporting reputable organizations, both faith based and not, that are making a difference in the lives of others the way we believe Christ would. We will profile these organizations during our services and any money raised during the Sunday services will go 100% to the organizations we profile. So, if you feel you’re ready to take the step of generosity and give, it will be a return on the investment that God and others have made in you, benefiting community and global partners that are working effectively to care for those with less, in both our own city and across the world.
