For many of us who live in Saskatchewan, planting a garden in the yard allows us the chance to connect with nature and watch our food grow right before our eyes. Yet, for many in the city, lack of yards or apartment living or even lack of funds for planting are obstacles to the joy of gardening.

The Garden Patch is a community-driven urban agriculture initiative of the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre and is located in the 900 block of 3rd Ave. N in the heart of Saskatoon. Each year this vacant city-owned lot is transformed into a thriving green garden!

You can help out at the garden on Wednesdays from 4 - 8 as a drop in volunteer to help weed and harvest at the garden, with the produce going to the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre.

Grab your family or a group of friends and head out to the garden patch this summer!
